Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has dismissed claims that he slapped a Kisii based Jubilee politician Antony Kibagendi on Friday last week, at Kisii Sports Club, when the leaders had gathered to welcome Deputy President William Ruto who was in the county to preside over the 6th graduation ceremony at Kisii University.
According to Maangi, the information doing rounds on social media is false.
"I have learnt of a message doing rounds on social media about an incident that took place on Friday at Kisii sports club. I have heard that one Kibagendi claims that the discussion was about Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka. Let me categorically state that nothing can be further from the truth. It is unfortunate that somebody is trying to gain cheap publicity," said Maangi.
Angered Maangi dismissed Kibagendi's involvement in Kisii politics saying young people aspiring to be leaders must respect those who came before them.
He argued that Kisii residents won't elect leaders based on their fame.
"The electorates will only elect a leader based on his or her development ideologies," he stated.
