Renowned lawyer Donald Kipkorir now claims President Uhuru Kenyatta has handed over the role of leading Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rallies to ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
He said Raila will be representing the President during the rallies, and asked those not comfortable with his leadership to create personal groups and sensitize the public about the document.
"BBI is a political process ... Public rallies to sell it can only be done by politicians .. President Uhuru Kenyatta has tasked H.E Raila Odinga to lead the rallies for the Handshake Duo ... Others who don’t want to be under and led by Raila Odinga are free to form own teams," Kipkorir tweeted on Monday.
His remarks came after the ODM boss met governors from the Coast to plan for BBI forum which will be held in Mombasa on Saturday.
They were Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Amason Kingi (Kilifi), Granton Samboja (Taita Taveta) and Tana River's Dhadho Gaddae Godhana.
Already two BBI sensitization meetings have been held in Kisii for Nyanza region, and in Kakamega to represent Western Kenya region.
Raila has exuded confidence that the BBI is what the country needs to prosper and for citizens to remain united and asked Kenyans to continue discussing the report.
"The journey to a nation with shared prosperity is what we have now embarked on through the BBI process. I urge our people to continue making their views known at the different fora that will be taking take place across the country," he said.
