Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has predicted a big win for Deputy President William Ruto should he battle ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 polls.
The lawmaker says that in the event that the two face off in the poll without the help of President Uhuru Kenyatta on any side, the DP would humiliate the former Prime Minister.
He says that Uhuru, who is expected to retire after the poll, will have a major say in who becomes his successor, observing that whoever he backs will be the next President.
"If they are fighting just the two of them, Ruto would beat Raila hands down. But it is the side Uhuru Kenyatta chooses in 2022 that will win," he said in an interview on K24 on Sunday.
However, the lawmaker who is not in good political terms with Ruto observed that the DP will continue severing his relationship with Uhuru as time goes by.
"I think he will continue fighting the handshake because he believes that the handshake is what stands between him and 2022," he added..
