Singer Akothee has joined her best friend, Zari Hassan, in encouraging their followers to avoid living 'lies'.
Taking it to Facebook while in Mombasa, Akothee said people should accept themselves and the lives they are living without faking to portray a different lifestyle.
According to the mother of five, one can manage to fake life on social media but cannot convince himself or herself to own the status on social media.
"You can edit your photos and live a life full of lies, but you can't edit your life and live a life free from lies, face reality, you can't lie to yourself, but you can fool the world! Nobody cares until they meet you in real life living a lie ... then you will know, that Living an Expensive life on social media is a state of mind.. live your life like it is! You are doing better than most of the things you see posted on social media," she posted on Wednesday.
A few days ago, South Africa based Ugandan socialite, cum businesswoman, Zari Hassan also took to social media and preached a similar 'gospel', where she urged fans to be real.
“This thing of showing us LV, Gucci bags, breakfast in hotels, business or first class with no jobs should stop. What are you telling the young generation? That they need to break their backs for materials stuff? 2020 is a time to empower a girl child. I mean…don't come for me unless if I’ve called/sent for you. And ooh, if the shoe fits, lace that up,” stated Zari in a post on Instagram.
In 2019, Akothee and Zari had plans to empower women in the East Africa region. However, their plans did not materialize.
