Khalif Abdi was arrested in 2017 by AMISOM forces before being handed over to Somalia government. He was convicted of terror related activities.

On Sunday, the Kenya Police claimed that he sneaked into the country in September but his whereabouts are still unknown in Nairobi.

In a tweet, the National Police Service asked those with knowledge about his whereabouts to immediately report to the authorities.

"The National Police Service wishes to inform Mr Abdiwaahid Khalif Abdi alias Ise Tarabuun whose photograph appears below, a Somali national believed to have arrived in Kenya on September 24th 2019 to report to the nearest police station with immediate effect," read the statement.

It further said: "Any person who has seen him or has information about him should also do the same immediately or contact us by calling our toll free lines 999,911,112."

But a statement by the Somali government says Abdiwaahid Khalif Abdi aka Ise Tarabuun was released after serving two-year sentence, contrary to reports that he may have sneaked.

But the statement did not elaborate whether or not Somalia National government put any surveillance to monitor him despite having served a sentence over terror related activities.

The Nairobi administration is now keen to have him arrested for terror related activities and could be charged for being in the country illegally. Al-Shabaab last attacked Kenya early this year at Dusit D2 hotel killing over 21 people.
