A NASA allied politician from Gusiiland has threatened to expose tea brokers who are exploiting tea farmers.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati claims that tea farmers from Kisii and Nyamira Counties are being paid low yearly bonuses due to tea brokers.
"There is no way tea farmers from Mt. Kenya region can sell more tea than Gusii farmers. Tea farmers from Gusii region need to stand firm and ask the leaders, who are the tea brokers who are determined to kill tea farming which helps them pay school fees for their children, buy drugs when sick and build good houses?" he said on Wednesday as reported by Egesa FM.
Arati opined that some of the tea brokers are workers in both the national and county governments who own tea companies.
"Soon I will name those owning tea companies and expose them with all the tea brokering deals they have been doing. These are the same people who will be in the front line seeking leadership positions to lead the Abagusii community," noted the vocal legislator.
Arati is one of the leaders who are expected to run for governorship in Kisii.
