Under the leadership of Thirdway Alliance Party boss Ekuru Aukot, the bill seeks to reduce elective representation by abolishing some of the existing posts and reducing others.

But speaking at the Itabua Secondary School within his constituency in Embu county on Saturday, Muchiri said that the bill comes as another burden to Kenyans.

"When the number of lawmakers is reduced, Kenyans will be under-represented in the House. This bill is not good for Kenyans," said the MP as quoted by Daily Nation.

He also observed that the changes contained in the bill have not been communicated to Kenyans through public participation forums, urging them to reject it.

The bill is currently before the county assemblies where it must get the backing of over 24 houses to proceed to the next level.

It has been facing stiff opposition from a section of members of the National Assembly who are against the proposal to reduce their seats by over a half.

Also, it is having it rough from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga led-referendum push.
