Two men were on Thursday arraigned before the court over allegations of trying to sell a piece of land which does not belong to them.
Peter Njoroge Kanika and Peter Gitau Muiruri were charged with attempting to sell land in Nairobi belonging to MS Gidjoy Investments worth Sh944 million.
They were arraigned before Milimani Law Courts, where they were charged with forging documents to purport that the land belongs to them.
In a charge sheet deposited in court and seen by the Standard, the two and others not before court wanted to defraud the investment company 11 acres of land in Donholm area.
“On unknown date and place within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud MS Gidjoy Investments Limited land parcel formerly Nairobi/Block 82/7333 now part of amalgamation of parcels Nairobi/Block 82/7813 to Nairobi /Block 82/7856 measuring 11.8 acres situated at Donholm area valued at Sh944 million,” it read.
The prosecution claimed that they also forged a title deed, letters of lease and allotment and signatories of land officials and lawyer in a bid to convince their customers that they own it.
"They made a false stamped document namely a lease, purporting it to be a genuine lease signed, stamped and executed at Nga’arua Kamuya Ng’arua an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya," the prosecution further claimed.
They denied the charges and were released on Sh2 million bond with an option Sh1 million cash bail.
