President Uhuru Kenyatta's loyalist David Murathe has accused Deputy President William Ruto of insubordination.
Speaking on Sunday during K24's Punchline, Murathe said that the DP should stop campaigning and support the president's development agenda.
"The Deputy President has been contradicting the President...They have started campaigning, that is insubordination but the law does not allow the President to sack him," Murathe told K24.
The former Jubilee Party Vice-Chairman also said people should never assume that DP Ruto speaks on behalf of his party leader.
"The President has a deputy. He speaks for himself. We are just laying it as it is. The president has a voice and he can speak for himself," he said on Punchline.
He also hailed the peace brought about by the handshake between President Kenyatta and the ODM leader Raila Odinga. Murathe believes calm political temperatures will allow the President to deliver his promises.
"All politics is local...You must first sort out your backyard. Right now the handshake between the President and Raila Odinga is being hailed everywhere. The President still has work to do," he told Anne Kiguta.
