Speaking on Sunday, Aukot said that his monies come from the public, mostly through the recently launched PayBill number, which he said has so far brought in Sh500, 000.

He added that Kenyans have been so supportive of the Bill and have been generously contributing towards the course, which he says seeks to reduce the tax burden on Kenyans by eliminating excessive representation.

He said that though the task of lobbying for the Bill at the county assemblies is expensive, his team has been managing the available resources by travelling on road.

"We have raised so far Sh500,000 and we have a PayBill number. We don't want choppers we drive to meet the people," he said during an interview on K24's Punchline show on Sunday night.

He also expressed his gratitude to Kenyans who have been sending in their contributions towards the push which also seeks to introduce a nonrenewable seven-year presidential term.

According to Aukot, Kenyans have been sending in as little as Sh50, with the highest contribution so far being Sh50, 000.

"I want to thank Kenyans who are giving us Sh50. The highest we have seen is Sh50,000," added the lawyer who unsuccessfully vied for the presidency in the 2017 polls.

He, however, denied claims that he is being funded by a section of Jubilee Party leaders to frustrate the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
