Night party has been banned in Nakuru.
Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu on Wednesday banned all kid of night social gatherings in the county during this festive period.
Speaking to journalist in Nakuru Town while issuing the ban order, Matu said night entertainment activities have led to the sudden increase of criminal activities in the region.
The County police boss order comes a few days after youths attacked civilians after they were denied entry at one of the entertainment joints in Nakuru town.
Matu said police are now well prepared after they picked a key lesson from the shocking incident that left residents counting losses.
“Sixty of the rowdy youth were arrested and charged in court. We learnt lessons from that incident, and — as a result — we have decided to indefinitely ban night meetings and parties in Nakuru. We will lift the directive sometime in January 2020,” said Matu as quoted by K24 Digital.
Last Saturday, a group of youths were denied access into Nakuru Athletic Club where there was beer promotion.
The youths then turned their anger to innocent residents with stones, including Samwel Maina, a taxi driver whose car was damaged by the suspects.
Nakuru residents who welcomed the ban asked the police to deploy more security officers on the ground to ensure the ban is administered.
Social gathering happening between 6 pm to 6 am will be considered illegal.
