Three people have been arrested in Machakos in connection to the murder of a 17-year-old boy.

The body of Joseph Munuve was found floating in a swimming pool at Machakos Academy in Miwani area a few days ago.

Machakos Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer Rhoda Kanyi confirmed the arrest stating that the three comprise of the school security manager, swimming pool manager and a night guard who was on duty that day.

She said that when the police collected the body of the boy from the pool, they treated the case as a drowning incident until a post-mortem was done.

"The post-mortem showed that Joseph Munuve didn't drown but was strangled and his body thrown into the pool," said Kanyi.

"We began investigations and arrested three men who are helping with investigations. By the time we are done with investigations, we will have patched facts together on how the young boy was killed and what circumstances led to his body being found in the swimming pool," she added.

Kanyi urged residents and more so those around the school where the body was found to provide information that may help with the investigation into the incident.

The three suspects are held at Machakos police station.
