President Uhuru Kenyatta will fully take part in the census exercise set to begin later in the day, it has emerged.
The Head of State and his family will be enumerated at the Nairobi Statehouse at 10pm on Saturday, a process that will be handled by Planning Principal Secretary Julius Muia.
Also set to be present during the exercise is Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Director General Zachary Mwangi Chege, reports the Citizen Digital.
This comes amid the government's firmness on the exercise and has also been encouraging Kenyans to ensure that they have their data taken by the enumerators.
Interior Principal Secretary Fred Matiangi has since called for calm on possible manipulation of data, saying that whoever is nabbed interfering with the exercise will be dealt with.
Government spokesman Cyrus Oguna earlier on Saturday reiterated on the importance of the exercise, he noted that it is very necessary for national prosperity.
“This is an important government tool to plan for your child who will be born, who are yet to be born,” he said.
And with the exercise set to be carried out at night, Oguna said that measures are in place to ensure that all is well and the exercise runs smoothly.
Mwangi rubbished complains from some of the enumerators who have been lamenting of delayed payments during their training.
“All biodata of the enumerators has been taken. Pesa iko. Watu wasilelete malalamiko (the money is there, people should stop complaining," he said.
