Former Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has reacted to the arrest and prosecution of National Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Henry Kiplagat Rotich over the alleged Sh21 Billion Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
On Tuesday, CS Rotich appeared before Milimani Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti alongside Treasury PS Kamau Thugge, East African Community PS Susan Jemtai Koech and former Managing Director KVDA David Kipchumba Kimosop.
The CS pleaded not guilty to 15 counts of corruption and abuse of office leveled against him by the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji.
Reacting to a tweet made by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr in connection to the CS arraignment in court on Tuesday, Kabogo said that the days of corrupt individuals are numbered.
“If the happenings of today are anything to go by, there’re many people who should be very worried,” he said.
Kabogo is among leaders who have been calling for the arrest and prosecution of government official’s implicated in graft scandals.
On Monday, Haji approved the arrest and prosecution of CS Rotich and 27 other suspects.
The DPP said that he has concrete evidence to prosecute the suspects who face charges of conspiring to defraud the government, abuse of office, willful failure to adhere to procurement regulations among others.
The Magistrate Court is expected today at 4.30 pm to deliver a ruling CS Rotich and other suspect’s application to be released on bail.
