President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday hosted a delegation from the Champions for an AIDS Free Generation in Africa at State House, Nairobi.
The delegation comprised of former President of Botswana Festus Mogae, former President of Malawi Joyce Banda and Professor Miriam Were.
The team aims at championing for free AID’s generation. The leaders have been fighting for the reduction of AIDs prevalence in the country.
“The Champions for an AIDS-Free Generation is a group of former presidents and influential African leaders committed to an AIDS-free generation. They individually and collectively, rally and support regional leaders towards ending the AIDS epidemic,” State House Tweeted.
In his address, Uhuru said that he is committed to supporting the team in the fight to secure the nation from the spread of the deadly disease.
He asked other African nations to allocate more resources towards the implementation of more program for the health of the victims of the disease not only within the country but also the entire African continent.
“The President noted with satisfaction the progress being made by Kenya in the fight against HIV/AIDS and called on African countries to allocate more local resources to the fight so as to bridge the financing gap occasioned by dwindling external support,” added State House.
