Jubilee Party candidate for the Kibra parliamentary by-election Macdonald Mariga has been disqualified.
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Mariga has been kicked out of the race as his name could not be found in the 2017 voters register.
Mariga, who was in the company of former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale had gone at the IEBC offices to present his nomination certificate.
However, when undergoing the mandatory scrutiny process, it was found out that Mariga's name is not found in the 2017 voters register.
This meant that IEBC had to cancel his candidature since he is not a voter.
Mariga has paused a great threat to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party which has also fielded its candidate in the Kibra by-elections.
The Kibra by-elections slated on November 7, 2019 has taken a new twist after Mariga's expulsion.
His exclusion leaves ODM party relieved as he had given them a lot of pressure.
Today, ODM presented its candidate, Imran Okoth with the party certificate.
ODM leader Raila Odinga met with other aspirants who agreed to back Imran in the upcoming Kibra by-elections.
Other parties like ANC have also fielded their candidates in the Kibra parliamentary race.
Many consider Kibra ODM's stronghold and have predicted that it will win in the coming elections.
