The Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti has reacted after Sarah Wairimu filed a contempt case against him.
Kinoti has written a letter to Sarah's lawyer Philip Murgor asking him to serve his lawyer, Donald Kipkorir with the application of contempt against him immediately.
Kinoti, who has been out of the country, noted that he only read on social media that Sarah had sued him.
On Tuesday, Tob Cohen's widow, Sarah filed a civil case against Kinoti, State prosecutor Juma Victor Owiti, Nation’s special projects head and senior journalist, John Kamau. She wants them jailed for six months.
Sarah in her application wanted the ODPP and DCI fined for contempt.
She revealed that they went against a directive by Lady Justice Jessie Lesiit on September 16, 2019, which had banned them from sharing the proceeding of the investigations into Cohen’s death.
Sarah also accused Kinoti of trying to give out her matrimonial property with the aim of “handing it over on a silver platter to interested parties, including the siblings of the deceased as confirmed in an article published in The Star newspaper on September 16 titled Cohen gave sister Ksh400 million will."
Sarah, who was released on bail from detention, is the key suspect in her husband, murder. The case will begin on October 30, 2019.
