Bobasi constituency MP Innocent Obiri Momanyi on Sunday suffered a big blow after youths in the constituency disowned him.
The angry youths led by a youth leader in the constituency Rodgers Ongeri while speaking at Nyangusu market said the lawmaker has been facing several graft cases which have hindered his development record.
"In Bobasi we have no MP because the person we elected has been on several occasions been linked to corrupt dealings something that has made him not to deliver to meet the electorates' expectations. As youths we have agreed to traverse the constituency to collect signatures to oust the MP Obiri," said Onderi.
Onderi protested that MP Obiri is using shortcuts to gain wealth instead of focusing on serving the people who elected him during the August 8 2017 polls.
The vocal youth leader appealed to residents to wake up to oust Obiri so that he can concentrate on dealing with the graft cases he is facing.
"The people of Bobasi should not repeat the same mistake in 2022 electing a leader like Obiri who will be focused to accumulate wealth through dubious means," stated Onderi.
MP Obiri was arrested on Friday in Nairobi over the inflated Sh4 billion Lake Basin mall scandal and he is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
