Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and city lawyer Donald B Kipkorir differed over the Arror and Kimwarer Dams saga.
Murkomen stated that the Jubilee government will have to pay contractors everything as was the case with the Anglo-leasing scandal.
"This government paid fake Anglo-leasing money for goods not delivered in May 2014. Take your fake legal advise to the birds. We shall soon pay CMC for breach of contract in Arror& Kimwarer contracts," Senator Murkomen said on Sunday.
The vocal senator was responding to claims by Kipkorir that the money lost in the two dams will be recovered after President Uhuru Kenyatta directed that the contract be cancelled.
"Arror & Kimwarer Dams Contracts were corruptly gotten & are void. Entire sum of Kshs. 21B plus & punitive damages is recoverable from all beneficiaries.Purported advise by Kipchumba Murkomen has no legal foundation & is Fake. He ought to be dropped as Senate Majority Leader," Kipkorir tweeted last week on Thursday.
In 2014, the government announced that it had to pay the Anglo Leasing debts. President Kenyatta directed Treasury to settle the scandalous debt to prevent further loss from interest accrued.
"The government has exhausted all judicial options to forestall payment of the judgement debts and the way forward is for the government to settle to minimise further loss as the outstanding awards continue to accrue interest. It is therefore imperative that these debts are settled," read a government statement.
