Uasin Gishu County Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has raised concerns regarding Kenya Navy's failure to recover bodies of the Likoni ferry tragedy victims.
A mother and her daughter plunged into the Indian Ocean 10 days ago, and their bodies are yet to be recovered..
Speaking on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Shollei hit out at the Kenya Navy; an arm of the Kenya Defence Forces trained on matters water for failing to recover the two bodies, and the vehicle.
"If we cannot rescue one motor vehicle and two bodies, there is something terribly wrong with this country. What does the Kenya Navy do with its budget?" she posed.
She said the fact that the Kenya Navy has been unable to recover the two bodies is a demonstration that Kenyans could land in trouble in case of bigger accidents in future.
"Do we have a Navy? Because this is a simple operation. Imagine now if we had a cruise ship with thousands of people sinking off the coast and that's the kind of things the Navy should be dealing with. So if they can't deal with this one, that's frightening," she added.
The government has blamed bad weather, strong currents and poor visibility for the delayed recovery of the bodies and the vehicle.
