ANC Secretary General Barrack Muluka said his party leader will join forces with like-minded leaders to shoot down a referendum should the March 9, 2018 handshake team propose it.

“Mudavadi will team up with other opponents to defeat President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga should the BBI lead to a referendum,” said Muluka on Wednesday night during Point Blank Show.

Muluka said BBI was constituted with total disregard of the Constitution and therefore lacks legal basis to propose amendments to the supreme law, which he noted can only be done through popular initiative or the parliamentary system.

“My party leader Mudavadi and the party itself did not make any presentations to the Building Bridges Initiative, therefore, we will go flat out to shoot down any referendum if it is recommended.

"ANC will team up with Ruto and any other like-minded politicians to vote against the referendum, which some political observers say might take place in June next year,” he said.

Reacting to the sentiments, Miguna hailed Mudavadi and his party for taking such a strong position and urged others Kenyans to rally behind the anti-BBI campaign.

"Finally Musalia Mudavadi has spoken like a patriot through his party Secretary General Barrack Muluka. All patriotic Kenyans must robustly oppose and fight against the illegal, unconstitutional and despotic BBI... draft Constitution and referendum," he tweeted on Thursday.
