There was a sombre mood at the Jewish Cemetery in Nairobi on Tuesday, as slain Dutch businessman Tob Cohen was interred, weeks after his body was found dumped in Kitisuru.
A huge turnout was reported during the function, with the mourners including his embattled wife Sarah Wairimu, who is being held by the police as the main suspect in the murder.
Ms Wairimu sadly followed the proceedings, as Jewish men took charge of the function and rituals, putting on a sad face as the casket containing remains of a man she called husband for years was lowered inside the grave.
Some of the men who presided over the function were dressed in black, while others were casually dressed, in a function which locals were also allowed to attend.
Despite being a sad event, the Jews played it cool, with some giving weak smiles, before Cohen was given his final sendoff signal which was marked by blowing a black shofar as a sign of extreme grief and anguish.
After this, his body was buried. He leaves an ongoing probe regarding his murder, and a possible legal tussle regarding his will, in which he did not leave anything in the name of his widow.
