Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has denied claims that he's helping President Uhuru Kenyatta run the government.
Since his handshake with President Uhuru, Raila has been linked to major government decisions and changes that have seen several leaders believed to be allies of Deputy President William Ruto sacked, despite being an outsider.
But Mr Odinga on Thursday denied the claims, adding that it's the primary role of DP William Ruto to help President Uhuru.
Dr Ruto and his allies have been accusing Raila of destabilising the government, arguing that he's keen to dismember Jubilee party.
“I am not in government. I am not helping Uhuru run government. That should be Ruto’s duty. I am only helping Uhuru with a specific grand project: the BBI which the DP should also be helping with,” Raila said.
With Ruto claiming that Raila is keen to run for the presidency, the ODM leader had on Thursday denied the claims when he met Mt. Kenya leaders.
“I have never said that I want to be President in 2022. That is how misguided some of those people are.
The BBI report does not talk about elections in 2022. We really don’t want to divert the attention of the people,” Raila told journalists after the breakfast meeting in Nairobi.
