President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday stole the show when arrived at the St. Mary's School, Nairobi for the institution's 80th-anniversary celebration.
The head of state was accompanied by various government officials during the event.
The President was given a warm reception upon arrival. Uhuru stood out from the rest of the guest when he arrived in a sky blue shirt, striped tie and navy blue blazer.
Uhuru walked in the school as the students cheered together with the other guests and parents who had arrived for the event.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has been supportive to the education sector. The government has established different programs to support the education sector.
In August, Uhuru announced the end of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination. Uhuru said that he is committed to transforming the education sector. He said that the change in the education system will improve sector.
“I rather (pupils) be under a tree rather than being in streets sniffing drugs. Gradually, we will get the infrastructure needed,” he said.
Uhuru also asked those keen to disrupt the unveiling of the new education system to change course.
“Let us avoid unnecessary push and shove. I am committed to the reforms in education,” he said. The changes in the education sector have caused various debates among different stakeholders.
