The speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly Beatrice Elachi has given her recommendations to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting in Kitui County.
Speaking at the venue of the meeting on Saturday, Elachi called for leaders implicated in graft not to be allowed to lead the country.
"On corruption, as women, we say any leader with corruption cases should not be given an opportunity to lead this country," the Nairobi county assembly speaker said.
Beatrice Elachi's strong words come in the context of the raging war on corruption waged by the President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration that has seen a number of high profile individuals arrested and arraigned in a court of law.
Among those who have been targeted by anti-graft war are former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu, Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, and Samburu governor Moses Lenolkula.
During his visit to Nyandarua county on Friday President Uhuru Kenyatta said that his administration would not spare corrupt people entrusted with looking after public resources.
He assured that the war would continue relentlessly until public officials learn how to conduct themselves with propriety.
Corruption continues to be a huge problem in Kenya with the country said to lose billions of shillings every year to corruption.
