A section of leaders has reacted after the Government confirmed it will comply with court orders directing it to allow the return of exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna back to Kenya on Tuesday.
The High Court on Monday issued fresh orders directing the Immigration Department to facilitate unconditional entry of Miguna to the country in compliance with court orders issued on December 14, 2019.
Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando welcomed the ruling, saying it was a lesson to those hell-bent in promoting impunity.
"Finally, sense has prevailed. A lasting lesson to promoters of impunity. Three things you cannot hide: sun, moon and truth," the ex-legislator posted.
National Super Alliance (NASA) chief executive officer Norman Magaya said the declaration by the State to facilitate Miguna's return meant there will be no drama or confrontation at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) when the fiery lawyer arrives.
"The wind has been taken off his sails! No drama! No publicity!" Magaya posted on Twitter.
On his part, political commentator and economist Mohamed Wehliye said by facilitating Miguna's return, the Government was confirming it had wronged by forcefully deporting him to Canada in 2018, and should, therefore, compensate him.
"If this is genuine, GoK has officially now admitted that it disobeyed court orders when it deported Dr Miguna Miguna. They need to issue a Eurobond tomorrow to cover the damages they would have to pay him," Wehliye remarked.
