Balambala Level Four Hospital has resumed its operations after being out of operation for about two years.
Among the services that the residents of Garissa County residents will receive are free cancer screening services.
The county government of Garissa called on the residents of the county to take advantage of the free screening services.
Speaking in Balambala constituency on Sunday, Health CEC Ahmed Nadhir said that the county was in the process of putting up a modern cancer facility.
"You very well know that health facilities is not just about the building or the equipment, we also need to invest in the human resource, " the Health CEC told members of the press.
Nadhir said that the county government under the leadership of Governor Ali Bunow Korane will ensure that the doctors in the county are given the necessary training.
The news of the reopening of the facility will be welcomed by the residents who have to travel long distances to access health services.
Balambala Level Four Hospital was closed in 2016 due to the lack of adequate resources.
The hospital had carried out two cesarean section deliveries before closing down.
Improving healthcare in the county was a major undertaking in Governor Korane's election campaign manifesto before the 2017 general elections.
