Three people lost their lives on Monday after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Nakuru-Naivasha highway.
The accident happened at Marula area past Naivasha near Delamere atop over. It involved a matatu belonging to NNUS Sacco and a tours and travels minibus.
The accident was confirmed by Nakuru sub-county police commander Samuel Waweru.
Waweru said that among those who died were the matatu driver and two of his passengers. He said that the matatu was heading to Nairobi while the minibus was headed to the opposite direction.
He confirmed that several passengers got injured and were rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital for treatment.
"The matatu driver was headed to Nairobi and was trying to overtake a fleet of vehicles when the accident occurred at around midday," he said.
He observed that the minibus was ferrying tourist some of which sustained minor injuries.
The police boss urged motorists to exercise caution while on road and ensure they are conscious of other road users to avert accidents.
The accident caused a traffic snarl-up where traffic police were forced to arrive and clear the road.
