The seven including four men and three women were residents of the same village in Naivasha, Nakuru county.

The probox which had nine passengers was swept by floods in the morning hours of Sunday.

However, seven lost their lives while two managed to jump out of the moving probox.

According to Njabini Deputy County Commissioner, Joseph Nyameti, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to poor visibility following the heavy rains that pounded the area on Sunday morning.

"The accident happened along Githioro-Naivasha road past Githabai market. We suspect the driver lost control before hitting a culvert and rolled severally," said Mr. Nyameti.

The seven bodies have since been recovered and taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital mortuary as had been confirmed by area Administration Police officer, Muthee Karani.

"The bodies were moved to Naivasha Sub-county mortuary, while the wreckage was towed to Haraka police station," said Mr. Karani.

The accident is just one of many witnessed across the country since the onset of the heavy rains.

Many people have recently lost their lives and properties as a result of floods hitting many parts of the country.
