The dating world is vast, full of intrigues, adventures and all kinds of characters. As much as you should be open and bold enough to step into this arena you should be twice as careful because there are some crappy people out there.

They’ll waste your time and whisper sweet-nothings into your ear just to get what they want.

Given this haunting reality then one should be very careful and attentive to avoid being just another notch on their belt. When you notice the signs of a guy playing you, you can jump ship before stuff gets too serious. Don't be blinded by misappropriated and misguided love.

Here’s what to look for so you can tell when a guy is totally playing you:

1. Lukewarm advances

When a guy is really serious about dating you he will be in constant touch and the pursuit will be consistent and sustained. In fact if anything, the intensity will increase as time goes by. But when his pursuit blows hot and cold then there is a problem.

After texting and flirting for a while, they suddenly become distant or say things that appear to be out of character for no reason this should raise your alarm.

2. Puts in minimal effort.

Sometimes it feels like you’re the only one that’s making any sort of effort, while they manage to put in barely any at all.People generally put time and effort into things that they think are important, so if they don’t think you’re worth their time, then walk away for good.

3. He only calls or texts late

This is one sure sign that you’re just a booty call. A guy who is genuinely interested in you will check on you all through the day to see how your day goes or how you've been. If his favorite time to contact you is in the cover of darkness then take the hint and walk away. You're but a cover for the darkness till light resumes once more!

4. Rarely go on public dates?

People are busy, the couple might have clashing schedules but that is never an excuse not to hang out in your free time. Especially if he asserts that date nights at home are “more romantic.”

This is a classic player move, he doesn’t want to take you out in public because he's not ready to own the relationship or you are just not pretty enough for him, though you are the perfect fit for sex!

5. You have no idea about his social life

If you’re romantically involved with someone and the feelings are real, you meet each other’s friends. You get involved in one another’s lives.

And if the guy you’re seeing isn’t doing that, he’s playing you. The reluctance to introduce you to his friends goes a long way to show just how little he regards the relationship.

6. He doesn't honor his promises

After a while, you start to notice that they tend to make a lot of small promises that never actually materialize. They promised you’d hang out at the end of the week, they promised they’d message you in the morning, they promised to call you when they get home.

But then every time they back out last minute, or you don’t hear from them for a week – if at all.

7. Chemistry wears out fast

As time goes on, you’ve noticed them becoming less and less flirty. Their behavior is morphing into something you’d expect from a friend, but they haven’t stopped contact.

This is more than likely because they’re trying to distance themselves in case they decide to split, while still keeping you around in case they decide to stay.

Be on the lookout!
