Most relationships end up in breakups after the first date. How do you make your first date successful?

Here are seven things you should never do on your first date:

1. Never be late. Showing up late for your first date implies you are not being considerate of your partner's feelings. If you show up late, it sends a message that you don’t care about your date. Reduce your chances of arriving late by departing earlier than usual.

2. Never talk about your ex.The first date is not an appropriate time to talk about your past lovers. Keep a lid on it unless it is relevant to the conversation. Even then, don’t stay on the topic longer than necessary.

3. Never give in to sex on your first date. This a hard test of your patience. Your date may deliberately advocate for sex to see your response. Take time to know your partner before having sex with him/her.

4. Never tell your whole life story. Keep the conversation fun and light. If you reveal your entire life story from childhood until now, you’ll not only bore your date to death but also make yourself less of a challenge. In addition, your date will think that if you’re ready to share everything upfront you do that with everyone you meet.

5. Never forget your manners. When you’re spending time with a new special someone, it’s important to demonstrate good manners. If in a hotel for example never be rude to the waiter in the presence of your partner.

6. Never lie to impress your partner. You better hurt your partner by telling them the truth rather than impress him/her with lies. Don't worry about what will follow, just speak the truth as this will enable you to win their trust.

7. Never invite your friends. This should go without saying, but don’t bring guests to your first date. The date should provide an opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with your partner and that doesn’t involve two or three additional people.
