Equity Bank's Wings to Fly programme has allocated seven slots for students who attained 350 marks and above in Molo constituency.
Area MP Jacob Macharia has said that parents from needy families whose children sat for KCPE and attained 350 marks and above should take the opportunity for the scholarships.
He added that through Molo Constituency Development Fund, needy students in secondary schools, colleges and university will benefit from bursaries that set to be awarded in the coming weeks.
“Molo CDF has a bursary scheme and it has been very instrumental in shaping those who are bright but come from needy families,” he said before adding “many parents have applied for the bursary and it is a good show that they too want literacy to be the rule here in Molo.”
He spoke in the constituency’s office on Thursday.
Molo CDF currently supports 5200 students in the area who are bright but cannot afford to pay school fees.
Macharia noted that CDF office in the constituency has made remarkable development in the education sector as he has built a total of six primary school and four new secondary schools.
He also said that during his tenure as Molo MP, he has lobbied to have an additional 88 teachers posted to different schools within the area in a bid to improve performance and curb the high rate of school drop outs.
“Before the schools were built, some students could walk for 11km before getting to their school but today they only walk for a short distance all thanks to Molo CDF.”
Molo constituency has Technical Training institute currently under construction and Kenya Medical Training College.
