Doctors at the Nairobi women Hospital in Nakuru have said a 7-year old girl from Maili Sita in Bahati who was raped by her neighbour will recover.
Dr Angela Gwaro Thursday said Leah Muthoni (not her real name) suffered third-degree perennial tears after the rape ordeal but she will recover.
“We have carried out surgery on her and tried our best and we are hopeful that she will recover and we will discharge her in 2-3 days time.
She suffered third-degree perennial tears,” said Dr Gwaro.
Muthoni was raped by her neighbour, a middle-aged man on Tuesday.
According to her mother who requested not to be named, the ugly incident happened while she was out doing her daily chores and left her daughter in the house.
The man is said to have called the young girl to his house asking for her help in collecting something under the bed and he forced himself on her.
“The child came to me and told me what happened and I took her to hospital then to the police and it is when we were at the station that the man who raped her came in the company of two other young men and my daughter identified him. He was arrested,” said the mother.
Area residents have condemned the act and want stern action taken against the suspect.
