Naivasha tenants have been deemed at great risk by an NCA survey which stipulated that over 70 percent of the houses do not meet quality standards.
Officials of National Construction Authority toured the town on Saturday and identified some buildings that were due for demolition or re- inspection.
“We have gone to various counties and the emerging issue is ignorance among the developers and contractors,” said senior investigations officer Engineer Crispus Ndinyo.
Ndinyo added that the workers are lacking in protective clothing while some contractors are not registered.
Cases of buildings collapsing in the country have become common with at least several cases a month of fatalities as a result. A vast majority of housing projects in the country are of substandard quality.
The construction industry has become one of the major killers in the country with many laborers losing their lives on a monthly basis.
