Boils appear as red, pus-filled bumps that form under the skin.
With time, they grow larger and the pain persists until they are drained.
Boils occur as a result of bacterial infection on the skin. To ensure that the boil does not get deeper into the skin or that the boil does not spread to other areas, avoid squeezing them.
According to Mayo Clinic, here are several ways on how to treat or get rid of boils at home;
1. Using castor oil
This oil contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help in getting rid of boils. To use castor oil, apply on the boil for atleast twice a day till the boil disappears.
2. Using turmeric powder
Turmeric powder helps in treating boils by either ingesting it or applying it on the boil, To ingest it, one needs to mix it with milk or water and drink atleast three times daily while as a paste, turmeric powder is mixed with water or ginger and then applied on the boil at least twice a day.
3. Use of Epsom salt
Dermatologists state that this salt works by drying out the pus in the boil. This can be achieved by dissolving it in warm water and compressing the boil several times during the day.
4. Use heat
To comfortably and effectively get rid of a boil, apply a warm compress on the boil for around twenty minutes. This works by allowing access of white blood cells and antibodies onto the area of the boil hence fighting the infection.
