Deputy President William Ruto has been cautioned against attending the planned Bukhungu Stadium meeting in Kakamega County which is expected to be attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The meeting which has already been opposed by a section of politicians from the region for allegedly not being inclusive is aimed at popularizing the Building Bridges Initiative report whose debate is continuing to divide the country's political class.
While the focus shifts on the DP whether he will attend the meeting, political analyst Kwendo Opanga has cautioned him against attending the gathering.
According to Opanga, the DP is most likely to suffer political loneliness from the ground which he says may be hostile over his alleged opposition to BBI.
"So if the DP attends, he will be on hostile turf and lonely in the crowd as it happened in Bomas," said Opanga in his column on Sunday Nation.
In what presents Dr Ruto with another dilemma, Opanga believes that if he skips the meeting, his rivals will have a fertile ground to attack him for being anti-BBI.
The last such meeting happened last Friday in Kisii and was attended by Raila and other top government officials and Governors.
However, Ruto was quick to dismiss the meeting saying it was a waste of resources.
