The late Bishop Cornelius Korir's memorial and peace cross-country which is poised to take place next month has been given a go-ahead by Uasin Gishu County government.

Catholic Dioceses of Eldoret planning committee visited the Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno's office on Thursday over the issue.

The memorial cross-country is co-sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret and a local radio station, Upendo FM.

“……as a noble stakeholder, we would like to share with you this paramount idea so as we journey together in marking the 2nd anniversary of the late Bishop Korir….” Upendo FM's CEO Stephen Kangogo told Chemno.

The event will take place on November 2 at Sports Club in Eldoret town where all athletes elite and novices will compete.

While launching the event on October 3, the vicar-general Fr William Kosgei asserted that the celebration would bring together talented individuals to have a 'mass' and 'worship together.

“As a nation, we have a glut of talents especially in this region and we want to celebrate together, have a collective mass and worship together,” said Father Kosgei.
