Elgeyo Marakwet county residents and leaders on Saturday converged at Kapyego ward during the final send-off of former Kapyego ward MCA pastor Benson Kiptire.
Kiptire was also a personal assistant to Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was also present to pay his last tributes to his ally.
Speaking during the ceremony, a visibly agitated Murkomen blamed the government for the brutal murder of Kiptire sending a special message to President Uhuru Kenyatta concerning the state of security state in the country.
According to Murkomen, security in Kenya cannot be managed through assassinations and extra judicial killings.
“My message to President Uhuru Kenyatta and I am very clear in my mind, security will not be managed in the country through assassinations and extra judicial killings. It would not solve any problem in this country. This nation will not be built through violence because violence begets violence,” Murkomen appealed to President Uhuru.
Kiptire was abducted in his shop at Rock Centre in Eldoret June 21, 2019, and whisked away to an unknown destination.
His lifeless body was later found at Kamatira forest in West Pokot County as the identification of those who abducted him or those who murdered him continue to be a mystery.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Alex Tolgos and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi are among the leaders who attended the late MCA's funeral.
