The controversial Muranga women representative Sabina Chege has confirmed the sobriety of political leaders after the mega launch of the Building Bridges initiative report at the Bomas of Kenya.
Speaking during daybreak at citizen TV on Tuesday, Sabina claimed that political division among themselves bred enmity and hatred. She blamed some leaders who had even gone to the extent of nicknaming the BBI thinking that there was someone being propelled to leadership.
"When Embrace & Inua Mama was formed, we started unnecessary competition and started talking from different perspectives. BBI is out, it is high time women leaders in this country come together & find solutions," she said.
Sabina said that division in the women's parliamentary leadership was unwarranted. She quoted an incident where women would insult each other in public rallies.
"Women went in platforms abusing other women. This was not meant to be as women of this country. There was a division amongst ourselves. Others started giving the BBI names... these teams were...... tangatanga sijui kieleweke..some of these people thought that BBI was meant to propel someone to leadership. From the release of BBI we now became sober," she said
Sabina Chege called on the unity among women leaders after the BBI release amid calls to disband the small political groupings including Inua mama. She after the release of the BBI report leaders became sober and lessened insults at each other.
"After now becoming sober we realized that we need to come together as people of Muranga so that we can look for experts of our mother tongue language to go translate the BBI report to Wanjiku in the grassroots."
