A Starehe Boys Centre alumni Raymond Rono has started a road walk from Kaboi Primary School in Nandi County to Starehe Boys Centre in Nairobi in a quest to raise funds to educate needy students.
The 350 kilometres walk dubbed 'The Chairmans Walk' aims to raise Sh10 million for Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust which helps needy bright students to get admitted at Starehe Boys and Starehe Girls Centres'.
"We decided to flag off the journey here at Kaboi Primary School to Nairobi as a way of retracing my steps of some years ago when I was studying at Starehe Boys," Rono who is also the chairman of Starehian Society said during the launch of the walk on Sunday.
As Starehe Boys Centre commemorate 60 years since it was started by Dr William Griffin, Rono says he has been driven by the passion to help the needy students at the precious institution in the pursuit of their dreams.
"I urge all well-wishers and donors to join me to help the needy students' dreams come true and to be natured to fruition," he noted.
Rono said he aims to walk daily for 32 kilometres and expects to complete the journey by July 20th.
The walk was flagged off by Aldai Member of Parliament Cornelius Serem.
