Okoth, 41, died on Friday evening at Nairobi Hospital, just 24 hours after being admitted in the Intensive Care Unit according to the family.

While moaning Okoth, Odinga said he spoke to the MP almost a month ago and was eager to meet him on Wednesday.

But after several hours of searching at Nairobi Hospital, Odinga gave up and rescheduled his plans because Okoth's phone was not going through at that time.

Raila who was in Mombasa at the time the MP succumbed to colorectal cancer, was shocked with the news as he planned to board his private plane to come back to Nairobi to check on Okoth.

“I spoke to him about a month ago, but the day before he died, I had a bad premonition. I went to look for him at The Nairobi Hospital then I was told that he had been discharged.

"Yesterday (Thursday) in the morning I went to several functions before flying out to Mombasa. I was hoping to see him when I came back today, then at the airport, I realized that he had passed on. The day before he died I spent one hour looking for him,” a sad Raila revealed.

According to the family, Okoth asked them never to allow doctors to confine him to a life support machine.

In a previous interview, Okoth had hailed Mr Odinga as his personal hero. He grew up in Kibra before moving to abroad for further studies.
