Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has revealed that he invited the Vice-Chancellor of Masaai Mara University Prof Mary Walingo to his house during a phone call.
The meeting was aimed at discussing damning corruption revelations carried in a Citizen TV expose.
According to the outspoken Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator, Prof Walingo agreed to the meeting but she never showed up as had been agreed in the phone call.
"I told her that if she was afraid of meeting with me elsewhere she could come to my house so that we could have a discussion on what she was seeing. I waited for her the whole day but she never showed up.(Nikamwambia sawa mimi nitakuwa nyumbani kama unaogopa ukutane na mimi mahali popote wewe njoo nyumbani kwangu tuketi ili uweze kunieleza mambo yale wewe unaona. Na sasa hakuja nilimtegea mchana mzima lakini hakuja), " Ole Kina said in a video shared on YouTube. (1:33-1:50)
Prof Walingo was adversely mentioned in the Citizen TV expose which was aired on Sunday, triggering a lot of social media chatter.
The alleged rot at the institution was brought to the media's attention by the institution's top accountant Spencer Sankale who is privy to details of the financial affairs of Masaai Mara University.
Before the expose was aired, the VC admitted there were issues to do with corruption at the university in a video posted on the institution's Facebook page.
There have been calls from a section of Kenyans for the Mara University administration to be investigated by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
