As people all over the world mark the World Aids Day with different events, the Kisii Governor James Ongwae has urged Kisii men to come out in large numbers and get tested.
Speaking on Saturday in Kisii, Ongwae defined what the World Aids Day means and the importance of the celebrations. He also gave his account on the importance of knowing own status by getting tested.
The county boss equally advised women to ensure that they give birth in hospitals and avoid the outdated ways of delivering while in their houses, as this risks their lives and those of the unborn babies.
"The world will commemorate World Aids Day. This day is essential as we communicate with the victims and those affected, not to lose hope and even advise them how to avoid stigma," Ongwae said as Egesa FM records.
He also urged residents to turn out in large numbers to the celebrations that will be held on Sunday. The event will be graced by Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
"You know how Mama Ngina Kenyatta loves helping in things to do with women. So I request that you all come by, we here the plans about mother to child transmission. This will help infants not to get the diseases when their infected mothers give birth them," Ongwae added.
