Speaking during an interview with Daily Nation on Sunday, the senator said that the county bosses are also answerable to the people who elected them into their offices.

The lawmaker said that he will not sit back and watch his Nandi Colleague present a bill in senate seeking to protect the county bosses. He also argued that it is only the President who is above the law under limited circumstances and not the governor.

“This is why I joined some of my colleagues of goodwill to resist any temptation by the senator for Nandi to bring a bill ostensibly to insulate governors from investigations and prosecutions while in office. Nobody is above the law except the President but in very limited situations. Everybody will be subjected to the due process and any governor found with his hand in tin must be dealt with as a common criminal,” he said in part.

The push for the immunity of the governors came after the court barred governors Mike Sonko (Nairobi), Ferdinard Waititu (Kiambu) and Moses Kassaine (Samburu) from office over graft.
