In a tweet on Tuesday, the flashy lawyer opined that Safaricom's Chief Customer Officer Sylvia Wairimu Mulinge should be picked as the new CEO.

Mr Kipkorir criticised Joseph over the failure to turn around things at Kenya Airways. He suggested that Ms Mulinge should be appointed CEO to continue with the late Bob Collymore's work at Safaricom.

"Michael Joseph isn’t a transformative leader. He was at the right place at the right time as 1st CEO of Safaricom... MJ has neither charisma nor humility of Bob Collymore... His failure to turn around Kenya Airways shows his ability... Sylvia Mulinge deserves to be appointed CEO," he said.

This comes just hours after the telecommunications company announced that Mr Joseph will be acting CEO following the death of Bob Collymore on Monday.

Mr Joseph is currently the Chairman of Kenya Airways. He served as the CEO of Safaricom from July 2000 to November 2010 before handing over to Bob Collymore.

His appointment has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans.
