Authorities at Hell's Gate National Park in Naivasha, Nakuru county, have launched a search for six persons suspected to have drowned after being swept by floods while inside the site.
Those feared dead include; five tourists and their guide, who are suspected to have been swept by the waters after heavy rains started pounding the surrounding area.
The incident was confirmed by Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu who said police officers have been deployed to aid in recovering the missing bodies.
Among the dead was a woman of Indian origin, whose body was found miles away in Suswa Town, with details indicating that all the others were local tourists.
In April 2012, seven tourists from the Nairobi Church youth group lost their lives in the gorges in a similar manner, after being swept away by flash floods.
Apart from its scenic gorges, the National Park which is located South of Lake Naivasha is widely known as a bird sighting site, and specifically its bearded vultures.
