Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday yet again refused to disclose his net worth, only choosing to relative his years in public service.
For months now, the DP has turned down requests to reveal his wealth, despite his frequent contributions to churches other social functions.
But in an interview with NTV, Ruto said he is a businessman and his wealth should not be subjected to suspicions.
"You cannot tell me that a teenager can be possibly the richest man on earth and a 53-year-old man, should own nothing. Surely, give me some credit," he said.
"I am a businessman, I work hard. I have been a public servant, a member of parliament for close to 25 years, a DP for eight years," he added.
Dr. Ruto asked media houses to target "other" people before pausing a similar question to him.
Previously, ODM leader Raila Odinga has questioned Ruto's wealth, making reference to his contributions that amount to millions.
“Some church leaders are true to their calling, others are not. We need to ask the source of the millions of money being taken to churches,” said Raila.
“We need to ask if someone’s salary is Sh1 million a month, where do they get Sh5 million each week or between Sh15 and Sh20 million a month to hold fundraisers in churches?”
