Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday impounded cocaine worth over Sh11 million in Barisheba, Kisauni constituency.
During the operation, the detectives managed to arrest two suspects.
The suspects identified as; Juma Suleiman and Bashur Omar are currently being held pending a probe into the matter.
According to the DCI, the detectives managed to conduct a successful raid thanks to intelligence from the public.
“Cocaine worth over Sh11 Million and weighing about 3Kgs was confiscated today afternoon from a residence in Barisheba, Kisauni following a Multi-Agency raid triggered by intelligence from the public. Two prime suspects; 47-yr- old Juma SULEIMAN & 59-yr-old Bashur OMAR arrested,” DCI tweeted.
Reports indicate that the cocaine had been hidden in a suitcase and covered with clothes. After a thorough search, the detectives managed to detect the substance, subjected it to a test, and confirmed that it was indeed cocaine.
“Following intelligence, Detectives recovered a suitcase from the residence of the accused persons containing assorted clothing. Upon further search they discovered FALSE bottoms on the sides of the suitcase containing a whitish substance that tested positive for COCAINE,” DCI added.
