1. Raise your electrical outlets and switches

2. Raise your home on stilts
Even though this act is expensive, raising your home on stilts will raise your home above the flood levels and you'll be protecting your home from floodwater that may tend to enter.
3. Install foundation vents or a sump pump
A foundation vent is commonly used to allow the flow of flood water instead of it remaining stagnant. That way, it makes it hard for a home to be filled with water, as there is an outlet that will be used to drain off water as it enters.
