Aden Duale, the current Garissa Township MP is open to thoughts of retiring from politics.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, Duale who doubles up as the Majority Leader in Parliament said he has left a legacy in his constituency and that he wouldn't want to die while still a politician.
"I don't want to die when I am a politician. It is the worst death," remarked the Garissa MP adding that "In politics, it is good you leave when people still love you."
He explained that his legacy in Garissa will give him satisfaction even in his retirement noting that infrastructure during his tenure has greatly improved.
"In my constituency, I have left a legacy. I have built roads, I have connected Garissa to the great grid through President Uhuru Kenyatta, tarmacked a number of roads in town, improved education; I am now going to 15 years, I have been the first occupant of the Leader of the Majority under the new constitution," Duale stated not mentioning exactly when he will retire.
He is among the few parliamentarians serving in the 12th Parliament for their second and third terms having been first elected as Dujis MP in 2007 on an ODM ticket.
In 2013, he was re-elected on a URP ticket for Garissa Township, a seat which he successfully defended in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Duale is among Deputy President William Ruto's protegees bent on ensuring he secure a win in the 2022 presidential race.
